Hi Paul,
As for the red dot sight, it's the scope on top of the rifle.
As you look through it, you will be looking thru the small round opening rear sight, with putting the front sight into the center of the round opening rear sight.
With the red dot scope turned on, a red dot will be able to be viewed, which will put the red dot right on top of the center front sight through the small round rear sight opening.
What is good about this red dot sight is, you can do whatever you want, walking, sitting, or whatever, with both eyes opened, whereas you can't with the regular rifle sights.
See, with both eyes opened, you can see out the side of your other eye, to do things, while still sighting onto the target.
Cause where the red dot is, is where the bullet will go.
Now, the green laser sight is just that, a green (they also use red, which Lisa has a pistol that has the red, so I went green) line of light that goes from the end of the sight, to the target.
The green light will acually be on the target, were the red dot sight just has the red dot in the scope, not the target.
Again, where the green dot is on the target, is where the bullet hits, as long as it's sighted right.
I have mine for 100 yards for the rifle.
At night, you will see the green or red, the best.
During the day, it's hard to.
So, low light, cloudy days, or inside a building or something, it works super.
It will be a red or green dot on the target itself.
I don't really use it for distance during the day, just the red dot sight.
On a dusty or foggy day/night, you will see the whole line of color (red or green), which can backfire on you, as the targe now sees you as well.
This will give you an idea of the red dot sight:
www.eotech-inc.com/simulator/simulator.htmlYou will see that you can keep both eyes opened, and fire faster, seeing another target off to the side.
As for guns and children, I totally understand.
That's why we even have a gun safe, to put everything away, under lock and key (even though there is no key
)
My parents were not into guns, I started when I moved out of the house.
Bought my first AR15 way back in 1979!
Known as the SP1 now.
I guess I got into it, because I loved military stuff.
If I wasn't into Trans Ams, it would be military jeeps, halftracks, maybe even tanks. ;D
A friend up the street from me, has guns, a WWII jeep, and two WWII halftracks, which he would sell.
If I had the money, I would buy one of them off him.
Hope this helps,
George
