What do you fellows make of this '79? I like it, Seems original....a "custom order" per the build sheet. I refered the ad to a local looking for a '77 to '79. It seems to have a few decals similar to the silver anniversary car. The wheels are puzzling. While the silver anniversary car had the chrome "Turbos", this '79 has Gold "Turbos". Looks original and documented, but puzzling, nonetheless. calgary.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-classic-cars-1979-Pontiac-Trans-Am-W0QQAdIdZ265897050

A few other things are "off" as well. I see the bird on the gas tank door, which came out in 1981 cars. Also, a silver bezel on the auto shifter, which only came on the 10th Anniversay, as well as the '80 Indy and '81 NASCAR/Daytona. I know that the 1979 cars came with a 100 mph speedo, but I don't know if they came with the kph and the smaller mph, which only goes to 85. I do know that the 1981 cars had a 85 mph speedo. Nice car though. Not sure on the price, as I don't know rates and Kph compared to mph. George

The only thing I can say with an amount of certainty is that the speedo looks correct.
I remember "my first", a '79, having this type of speedo, as well.
In '77, when Canada went metric, the gov't made them display the km's more prominently.
Looking at the build sheet, raises a few eyebrows....but not being a true expert, can't say for sure.
I'm guessing the items you pointed out, were added, although incorrectly, after the fact.
