Indy events are always much bigger events.
There is a huge following for these cars.
You don't see much for the 1980 Indy Pace Car for Daytona that year either.
For Indy, they have big parades, so there are Festival cars given out to people a full month before the race. Indy Car owners use them, people high up in politics and radio can and sometimes get to use them, even give-aways happen.
Cars are displayed in the Malls even.
There is such a big following for Indy, that it's even big for the Press, which has their own event pins for getting in places.
There are back-up cards, in case pins are forgotten.
Decals for cars to park in the garage even.
People collect all things for Indy, glasses, tickets, Press Pins, back-up cards, Indy Programs, as well as Indy year books, which has lots of Indy photos taken during the race.
The festival cars have their own special lience plates even, with numbers on them.
Then, you have the winners, who are driven around the track after the race, pose for photos with the Pace Car, and are even given one to keep.
And, like Football, there is a special Indy Winner ring given out to the the winner, and some of the pitcrew.
These are like the Super Bowl rings.
Daytona is just a regular NASCAR race to most people.
They don't do anything as much as Indy.
that's why you don't see much.
You can get the Daytona Program, and some tickets for the race, but not much else.
One cool thing about going to SEMA, is that all sorts of people show up.
This year (2007), I was lucky to meet the winner of the 1980 Indy 500!
Here are a few more photos of my meeting him.
Here he is signing the plastic decanter for me.
Here is something most people don't see.
Kinda like the superbowl ring, only it's the Indy winner ring! ;D
Now this is something I don't have in my collection! ;D
