Hi all, I was wondering what everyone thinks of getting autographs. In other words, things signed by people who have something to do with what is getting signed. Case in point. I collect all things Firebird/Trans Am. As many of you have seen, I have shown some things that I have signed. Both for my 1989 20th TTA, and things for the 1980 Indy Turbo Trans Am. Well, every year at SEMA, there are tons of people who will be there, signing items. This year looks super, and I plan on bringing a ton of stuff. I mean a ton of stuff. Literary. Like almost my whole collection. There will be that many people signing. NHRA drivers (who use to race Trans Ams, and be in Pontiac ads) NASCAR drivers (who use to race Pontiac, and be in Pontiac ads) I posted some of the people in the SEMA post. Now, I don't intend to sell this stuff, but to keep it in my collection. Would any/all of you, do the same? Just wondering, George

I think autographs are great as long as they are relevent to the car type or brand, and not obnoxious. (under hood, or on the dash is OK...) But when they sign across the hood that detracts from the car IMO.
My friend had his 06 GTO signed by Reiss Millan (sp) The guy who drove the drifting GTO's from 04-06, I think that is a cool bit of Pontiac history.
The Comp T/A was signed by Jim Mattison under the hood. I need to get the SLP staff to sign it now. (I'd like to get Ed and Dave Hamburger and Reg Harris)
And then of course... there are some autographs that make no sense to me... Celebrities (Rock stars, wrestlers...) people that had nothing to do with the car...

Hey Dan, Post up a picture of the autograph on the Comp TA! I'd like to see that! George Ok, I just have to remember! I know I have pics somewhere. Jim was very nice, we got to meet him and his wife (Norwalk 06). He gave us a good insiders run down of how the Comp T/A came about. Like I said I still need to get some of the SLP staff to sign it.
