I figured I'd post a few pictures of my 1981 Trans Am Special Edition Turbo, back when she was a Special Edition , and not too modded. In this shot, she is new, with a bra added to the nose, as I was taking her to a car show about 30 miles away. I always use a bra for road trips, and take it off after the drive. In this shot, , I had the good softray windshield removed, to put in a regular windshield so I could install the "Turbo" windshield graffic, within a few weeks of owning her. I also had installed a complete Recaro seat interior. Ideal "C" front seats, full electric power, with seat heaters, with matching rear seat material to match the front, and my sunvisors. I have since modded the car way beyond the Special Edition stage, almost making the car look like some other type of car. Why? Because back then, it seemed that everyone had the same d**n car I had! I'm not kidding. Back then, these cars were on almost every street corner. Driver's waving to each other, always wanting to race, especially Camaros. ;D Do I regret modding my car? Nope, not at all. I have had so much fun with that car, going to shows, racing autocross, street dragging, and being in a video, I would even do it again. Enjoy, George

Here, around 1984, I had a Corvette shop in Las Vegas, Nevada, build me a custom twin scooped Turbo hood out of fiberglass, but with a latch molded into the fiberglass (Camaros have a separate latch that bolts on, I didn't want anyone thinking I modded a Camaro hood), that would latch without using hood pins. I also had a Hooker Rollbar installed (did this myself, and welded the bottom od the Roll bar to the frame rail inside the compartment, under the frame rail panels. I also removed the chrome centercaps, and installed the 1984 style black plastic caps with the gold bird. I felt that the car had no chrome (except for the Roll Bar), so neither should the wheel caps. I had done other interior mods at the time (like a Hurst Dual Gate shifter, but haven't shown them yet. Enjoy, George

Here are some photos as she looks now. She now has a huge Porsche style rear tail, done by Scoripon Trends, which did alot of cars in the late 80s, early 90s. Here is another view. The car is slightly modded. ;D Molded in mirrors. Twin raised "Turbo" scoops, and foilers installed. I installed 16 inch thirdgen Diamond Spoke wheels, removing the 1987 charcoal ones for the '88 and up black wheels with GS-Cs. Even the interior is modded. Top of the line (at the time) Recaro Ideal "C" Seats, with stereophonic headrests, Hooker Roll Bar, Hurst Dual-Gate shifter, NOS, with the button attached to the Hurst handle, with the activation button attached to the "Turbo Lights" button. A 160 mph speedo installed, with a Kenwood stereo, and Alpine alarm and phone (the phone is no longer actatived). A removed cat convertor, other than that, the engine is stock. For now. Back when I bought this car, you could see Trans Ams at every streetlight. So, I wanted something different. Now, you hardly ever see a Trans Am on the street, let alone, a second gen. I plan on keeping this car till I die. George

Here is my car, At a Trans-A-Rama event in Northern California. Many years ago, I was in line to tech the car for autocrossing. Here, when I was running 15 inch black Enkie 92s. George

Thanks! That car can pretty much turn on a dime. My Dad is a private pilot, who took acrobatic lessons in a plane, at over 4 "g"s, and I took him up to Big bear, California (where he owns a real big house), and on the way up, in the twisty mountain roads, I had to pull over. He had to dry heave! I'm lucky if my car can pull 1 "g". He brags about this car to everyone now. ;D George

Thanks Don. Uh, but not for letting us know you want to rub yourself. Ha! I posted somewhere, about a whaletail for sale on ebay. Did you see it? I also sent you an PM on 301garage. I have so many more photos to transfer to photobucket, so I can post more up of these cars. Anyway, today was a super day. Sunny, warm, shirt off, sipping on a bud light. It sure is nice out here. ;D Ha!!!!! George
