Hello, just came across your msg board. Here are some pics of my 89 Formula 350 (with a lot of modifications--stock is kinda boring!) Sharp eyes will note the incorrect, for the year wheels---I had them refinished and was lucky enough to snag some NOS centre caps! (no reproductions made--impossible to find)

Welcome! Glad to have you visiting my our site. You have a very clean Formula. The wheels don't bother me at all, as I swap wheels all the time with my cars. I too, have a set of those wheels, but they need work. I also try to get spares for the caps too. I have a few, and have even polished a few of them to look good. Tell us more about your car. George

More about my car: I bought it out of Plainfield IL, on June 1st 2007 and drove it back to Alberta, Canada. The previous owner did all the engine/trans/rear end and body and paint. One the way home it seemed like I had a hot start issue. I thought my starter was getting fried. Then when I got home the MAF burn off relay went. The car was way down on power and knocked under full throttle. I am not a tech guy but with some over the phone help I pulled up the check engine code and even fixed it. Driving the car with full power for the first time was exhilarating! It had real cheap tires on so it spun like mad! Edelbrock E-Tec 170 heads TPIS ZZ9 cam Crane Gold 1.6 rockers SLP 1 3/4 headers SLP Runners All polybushings As you can read, the car was mostly done but needed some finishing touches. I think my changes really added to the looks and driveability--the new brakes are great, the exhaust is now up to par and I have tunes! Heres what I did: swapped the wheels, with new Firestone Firehawke wide ovals, put the Formula decals on, a stereo (deck and speakers), 12" LS1 front brakes, Eibach pro kit and my recent addition in the pics below--Magnaflow 3" cat-back (it previously had a Borla Muffler and tail pipes only---talk about cheaping out!) Got an NOS leather TA steering wheel and shifter handle as well. Now if I could get a new headliner...... When I got it--stupid 2" drop! (Intrax springs) New exhaust Some short vids s243.photobucket.com/albums/ff310/avro206/?action=view¤t=cc037.flvs243.photobucket.com/albums/ff310/avro206/?action=view¤t=rrt021.flvI am going to try for 2010 to attend the TA Nationals. Hope to meet alot of enthusiasts

Very nice pictures! Always neat to hear about someone's car. Like you, I have had problems when buying a car used. But it all works out in the end. Your car sounds like a screamer. Have you run it at a track yet? Just wondering what your times are. Another question. Are you running tinted covers over the taillights? Or using Trans Am taillights? Thanks for sharing, George

Hi George,
I did have the car checked out by Auto Appraise--obviously during the short drive those problems did not happen.
And since then the car has been dead reliable...I have no trust issues at all. So that was very minor in the scheme of things that can go wrong.
They are tinted Firebird lights. The owner gave me another set that were even darker---he said the cops gave him trouble for them.
Yes I have had my car to the track. You have to realize what altitude does to a car..and I think you probably know.
So the DA (density alt) of Calgary on a warm summer night is typically 5000FT.
Using correction tables from the NHRA and other websites I come up with a 13.4@102mph (14.3@95 uncorrected) It was 5000 ft on that pass....I always check the weather data and plug the numbers in to find out.
I know a few guys that when there LS1 6 speeds were stock were running 14.1--so on paper and running against a fast car, like an LS1 it all adds up.

I also think it's runing too rich. It has a custom PROM---made with Tuner ProRT. Going to get it dyno'd in June with wideband O2 so we can see if theres room to improve. The Magnaflow was just put on. I think the 3" mandrel bent pipe should help--and my cats are going in the garbage. Plus I have an SLP CAI sitting in a box. Hope to get that ET a bit lower

Always fun to take a car down the track. I have taken my 20th TTA down the track, at sea level, and done a 13.9. That is stock, and with a boom box in back. That was back when I first bought the car new. Now, I have Micky Thompsons on a spare rear set of gold GTA wheels, and no cat on the car. Still have the stock chip in it too. She seems much faster now, even though I am not near a track anymore. Maybe someday, I'll go up to Las Vegas and run. George
