Just stopped in @ the local Pontiac dealer because they had a few G8's out front.
The car was much nicer looking in person than the pictures I saw, although I only saw grey and black ones there.
The interior was very similar in materials to the GTO but nicer styling IMO.
Quality wise everything looked good too. Its obvious it is a Holden and not typical GM North America.
I give it a big thumbsup.
I ended up taking G8 GT #006 for a test drive and it did not dissapoint. Typical LSX style motor. Very responsive. It drove just like a car with 24 miles on it should. The first 888 are numbered.
It was priced @ 31k (much cheaper than I expected too)
So... I want one. ;D
Just hafta convince my dad that he wants one. ;D

I have always like Holden. I agree, not built the same as here in North America. It's too bad the car has that stupid name. I'm sure that it would have driven nice. I haven't heard anyone talking bad about the driving. So, you are leaving Firebirds? ;D  George  |

Leaving Firebirds? Dont be silly. The salesman asked me if my 84 would be a trade in... then we both looked at each other and laughed, haha. Im pretty sure they would pay me to keep it.  I liked the fact that the Ram Air hood scoops atleast brought cool air into the engine bay. |

I see Pontiac is coming out with an "El Camino" version of the G8 next year!  I think it looks pretty sharp. With a bit of tweaking I bet they could make a Firebird out of it.  If you go to Pontiacs website you can submit names for it. I suggested Safari (And I'm sure just about every other ponchophile did too) and Cyclone II. GM is completely crazy. They claim time and again that there wont be a Firebird and the GTO is on hiatus...so they come out with a two door, RWD 360+ Hp El Camino style truck?  |

Ya, I went over there, and submited my name for it. The Pontiac Putz! He won't give us a Trans Am/Firebird, but he gives us this. I do like it, but that's not what we want. We may get a Bird, but we have to wait until he leaves, and that's 2011! George |

They have a ton at the local dealers. I have seen a few on the road too, so it is good they seem to be selling.
Ed said his son just bought a red G8 GT.
