Happy Birthday to my Bird, Ol' Blue. 29 years old. Still wearing her origiinal birthday suit. 39,000 miles on the clock. Seems like yesterday I brought it home from Smith Pontiac. The four months I had to wait after I ordered the car seemed a lot longer than the past 29 years. A lot of people, places and things have come and gone but Ol' Blue is still here. I know you long time owners understand my previous statement. My girlfriend says I treat my T/A better than her(totally NOT true)... she's kidding..... or is she?? I know the 80-81 T/A's don't get much respect because of the 301 but this engine allowed Pontiac to keep the Trans Am alive, when most of the classic muscle cars died. So I think of my 81 as a link in the Trans Am chain. She's a cruiser... that's OK by me.

29? She's still young! ;D Is that the car's build date, or the day you bought her? I bought my '81 Turbo Trans Am Special Edition (can't say she's a Special edition anymore, but she's still special to me ) new in 1981. June or July, I'll have to go out to the garage, and look thru my original paperwork. Oh ya, Happy Birthday ole Blue! ;D Glad to see you kept her all these years. Not many people can say that. George

Hi there Keith! Happy 29 to 'Ole Blue Too!
While my car is not my first (wish it was) it takes her place! Good for you for hanging on so long!
Great colors on your '81! I have been thinking of building one of my 1/8 scale T/A's in those colors!
Would love to have another T/A done up with blue and gold as well.
I've had people walk up to me at the gas station crying, (I guess they want one/miss theirs) saying to take good care of mine, so I guess I'll just say the same, & because they just don't make them any more!

Happy birthday Ol'Blue and many more. That is a beautiful car. I love that blue. I guess she lasted this long and still looks like that she should have many, many years left on her. Ol'Blue seems to me true blue.

Thanks everyone for the kind words about Ol' Blue. I really wanted this color on my T/A. It looks so good in the sunlight. I can look at it all day long. I didn't care for the blue bird decal and interior, so I choose the gold bird, gold snowflakes and camel tan interior. I get a lot of compliments on the color combo. You don't see these colors together too often, so it's nice to have something a little different. Dave80USATA, I have had people come up to me and tell me they wish they had their T/A back too. Most people are surprised when I tell them I bought the car new and it's NOT restored. A few have tried to buy my T/A but I always politely say no.....
