Last night,
Around 8 pm, we (Lisa and me) lost a very close friend and a big part of our family.
Holley, our dog, a Keeshound/Chow mix of over 15 years, died.
She was very old and fragile, and during the last 3 days, due to our heat wave, had trouble breathing.
She got up yesterday in the morning, ate her food, and did her duty.
She then went back to her doghouse, and rested.
When Lisa came home for lunch, she came out for water, and back in she went.
Around 4 pm, she had trouble breathing.
Panting real bad.
I tried cooling her off with pouring some cool water on her, but it didn't seem to work.
Her eyes were open, and she didn't respond at all.
Then, when Lisa came home, she seemed to be aware that we were there.
Lisa tried to get her up, but she wouldn't move.
She had wet herself, and then the flies attacked her.
She both sat there, swatting away the flies, till around 8 pm.
I had walked away, and Lisa said she put her head up, and looked for me.
Lisa called me, and I ran back over to them.
Holley looked at both of us, took a very deep breath, and died.
It was very hard to take, as I said, we have had her since she was just a little pup, over 15 years.
She was a very big part of our family, doing so much with us.
Going shooting, long drives in alot of our cars, walking at the beach, barking at seals, chasing pelicans and getting washed away by a big wave, to even taking big drives with us on our move out here from the Los Angeles area.
We miss her dearly.
Rest In Peace little girl.
You are missed big time.
You were the best!!!
George
