So, When do you pick it up? I kinda liked the 6000 STEs myself. George

LOL, can't convince my wife I need it. Go figure. I totally agree with the 6000 STE's too. That's another one you don't see anymore. My freinds girlfriend (his wife now) had one when we were in HS. Loved that car and always thought it was way ahead of it's time, with the AWD.

I lucked out. Way back in the days, I would go down to the local Pontiac dealerships, and pick up all the brochures. Then, after writing my books, I would go to the big auto shows, and grab all the press kits. I have the special brochure for the 6000 STE. I have spares, but not for the STE. George

Very cool find. It is pretty rare to see these late 70's entry level type models. Build quality and durability was pretty scary. I've got to give the designers credit, that Phoenix is a sharp looking little car for its day. Nice paintscheme, cool dash, etc. cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130406596265&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AITI found this one on ebay last week. (1976 Safari) It would be a fun little run-about. I had no idea the STE was so advanced until I picked up a brochure a while ago. Very ahead of its time.

Wow dan, That Safari is small. I had a 1972 Grand Safari with a 455 engine. I used that car for going to and from junk yards. ;D I called it my coner car. See, everytime I drove that car, I would always rn over traffic cones. I would drive that car out to bars as well. On the way home, I would on purpose, drive the car against the center divider, causing tons of sparks to fly. You should have seen all the drivers getting away from me as fast as possible. ;D When I got the car, the whole side was already damaged. It was weird to see the bullet mirror squared off from all the scraping I did with the car. ;D I bought the car for $250, and sold it for $450. I sure wish I had photos of that car. I miss it. I miss that engine too. George

Not sure, but Smokey & The Bandit scene where they have 200+ police criusers out after the bandit....some of those cars looked a bit similar, maybe a different year or trim level though....
