I've been looking for a new daily driver for quite some time now. Ideally I wanted a V8 fourth gen Firebird or T/A. (Nothing rare, then I wouldnt want to drive it!) So after looking high and low for several years without finding the right Bird... I ended up with a Pony. 2003 GT, 4.6, 102k miles. Auto, a few mods. My friend has owned it the past few years and gave me a price I couldnt refuse. Here it is getting to know the Birds. As soon as my dad pulled up in his 99 I asked him if he wanted to trade. There is just no comparison in the looks department with the T/A. The performance of the 4.6 is cute. 260hp, 300 t/q. It is no LT1 or LS1, that is for sure. On a plus note, the car does have the SLP Loud Mouth exhaust on it, so atleast it gets along with the Comp T/A. I cant wait to drive it in the rain and snow while my 84 gets to hibernate under a car cover. Thanks for looking.

I don't know whether to say "Congrats" or "I'm sorry", Dan!! ;D J/K
I couldn't think of a better use for a Mustang...A daily driver!!! ;D Nice looking ride though, I like the chin spoiler.
So what's on the agenda for the '84, when does the resto start??

I think instead of TADan, we should call him MustangDan. It's OK Dan, at least Ford got it right with the looks department. So when is the road trip to Las Vegas? Anyway, I know you bought it just to go to the Ford shows. Congrats! George

Thanks guys. Hey atleast it isnt a Camaro So what's on the agenda for the '84, when does the resto start?? First and foremost is going to be a thorough detailing and a car cover. I'll be registering it as a classic. I plan on driving it occasionally. I plan on fixing all the little odds and ends that have been neglected, like dried up weather stripping and a broken antenna. A full resto is out of the question right now, no garage and no $.

Congrats on a new ride Dan,I think....LOL I hope those Birds have fun beating that dead horse...LOL (j/k). Thats a cool Mustang. A friend of mind had one before he got married and for a Ford it can go and handles nicely.

Thanks Firehawk73.
I've got to say working AC is pretty nice. Haha. I am very happy with it and I am pretty sure the SLP loud mouth exhaust is going to make me deaf, but it sure is fun to rattle some windows. ;D
I took my 84 out for a spin yesterday. It was nice to get back into it, The Trans Am has the Mustang beat in the corners and even the crappy 305 has a better feeling torque curve than that silly 4.6 OHC business. You really have to rev that 4.6 up to get it to move. I'm still getting used to the differences between a traditional small block Chevy and the newer Ford 4.6.

Dan, You really need to feel the power of a Pontiac 400/455 engine. Trust me, your wallet won't like it though. George

I am open to all offers if someone wants to let me drive their car, lol. ;D I've never driven a Poncho powered Bird. Only been for rides in a 73 Formy with a 400, a 79 T/A with a 403, and an 81 Formy with a 301. Oh, I did drive my friends 56 Pontiac with a 400 dropped in, but now the car has a 327... (after the 400 died) I was contemplating swapping that 400 into my 84 but it looked a bit tricky. Alternator clearance seemed to be the big issue. It is just more cost effective to keep the 84 SBC powered.

You know, A turbocharged Buick V-6 engine would fit nicely in your '84 Trans Am. ;D George

Nice stang. My daily is also a ford right now. And 89 bronco with a 302 fueli. Even though alittle 302 in a big a** bronco, it still has some get up'n'go
