Below is how you change a tire on a third gen Firebird Before lifting the car up, take the lug wrench and just loosen the lugs, after removing the lug caps.If you have a low profile car like this 1991 Pontiac Firebird, you may need to use a couple of boards to make it easier to get the jack under it to lift the car. Slide the jack under the car and pump the lever about 4 times - that should suffice (until the tire is off the boards or ground). Now that you have the car lifted - take off the lugs. After getting the lugs off - carefully pull the wheel off. Carefully line up the holes on the wheel to the bolts on the car. Push the wheel to the car til you can't anymore. Put the lugs back on and tighten - only finger tighten - just enough to keep the tire on . Take the lug wrench and start tightening the lugs. Start with the top most lug and go in a zig zag pattern to tighten. Keep your feet against the tire so it doesn't pull away from the car as your tighten the lugs tighter. Lower the car. Take the lug wrench and tighten up all the lugs. Put the plastic lug covers back on and just finger tighten them. Take the lug wrench and carefully tighten the plastic lug covers till tight. Place your center cap back on and away you go!
